Factual Note on Sabbath:
The Sabbath is the 7th day of the week (Saturday), observed from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday (Leviticus 23:32). In Hebrew it is called Shabbat (שַׁבָּת), from the root שָׁבַת (shavat) meaning “to cease, desist, or rest.” It was commanded at Creation (Genesis 2:2-3) and written into the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11). Ancient Semitic calendar systems followed a 7-day cycle with the 7th day as holy rest. Proper observance includes complete rest from work, holy convocation, and honoring Yahweh using His true name. The Messiah Yahshua (יֵשׁוּעַ — “Yahweh saves”) kept and taught the Sabbath according to Torah.

Here is the direct, condensed fact sheet on how the phrase "first day of the week" entered our Bibles:

1. The Original Greek Says "Sabbath"

In every single resurrection account (e.g., Matthew 28:1, John 20:1), the original Greek manuscripts do not say "first day of the week." They literally read:

μία τῶν σαββάτων (Mia tōn sabbatōn) — "The first of the Sabbaths"

Linguistically, this directly references the Hebrew command to count seven weekly Sabbaths leading up to Pentecost (Leviticus 23:15).

2. Early Translations Maintained "Sabbath"

The earliest historical translations did not use the word "week."

  • The Latin Vulgate (382 AD): Translates it literally as "Una autem sabbati" ("The first of the Sabbath").

  • Wycliffe’s English Bible (1382): Translates it straight from the Latin as "one day of the sabotis" ("one day of the Sabbaths").

3. Why It Changed to "Week"

The shift happened in the 1500s (starting with William Tyndale and formalized by the King James Version in 1611).

Translators swapped the literal word "Sabbath" for the idiomatic phrase "first day of the week" to make the text fit the Roman solar calendar used by Western readers. To make it work, the KJV translators had to add the words "day of the" in italics, proving those words do not exist in the original Greek text.

The Bottom Line: The phrase "first day of the week" is a later human interpretation. The earliest manuscripts completely tie the resurrection timeline to the Hebrew Sabbath calendar.

Warning: There are two paths—one narrow road that leads to eternal life through faithful obedience to Christ, and one broad road that leads to destruction and the lake of fire—your choice matters eternally. Matthew 7:13-14

The one question every professing Christian must answer—your eternity hinges on it.

 

Tampering with Scripture (adding human ideas/traditions as divine commands or subtracting/removing/ignoring/twisting any part) reveals a heart not truly submitted to God. This risks one's name not being found—or shown never to have been—in the Lamb's Book of Life, resulting in eternal judgment in the lake of fire (the second death). Revelation 22:18-19,

 

A life of ongoing sin reflects the devil’s influence, unrepentant behavior rather than an occasional mistake. It’s the contrast between someone who struggles who has the Holy Spirit but tries to improve, versus someone who intentionally chooses a path away from God

  There are three elements to a legal seal.

Kjo ditë pushimi, thotë Jezusi, është krijuar për njerëzit (Marku 2:27). Jezusi e pretendon veten si 'Zoti i Shabatit. Sabati dhe Ringjallja

 

Nuk ka asnjë vend në të gjithë Biblën ku do të gjeni ndonjë varg që ndryshon Shabatin e Ditës së Shtatë në të Dielën, pse nuk ju shqetëson kur adhuroni në një ditë të ndryshme nga dita që Perëndia e bëri të shenjtë dhe të mbani mend? Është urdhërimi i katërt.

 

Shumica e të krishterëve tregojnë Romakëve 14 si tekst provë për ndryshimin e ditës së Shabatit, megjithatë, nuk do ta gjeni fjalën Sabat të shkruar në libër.

Mos bëni gabim, Zoti do t'ju lejojë ta sfidoni dhe të mos i bindeni Atij. Ai do t'ju lejojë të ndiqni turmën dhe traditat e njerëzve. Ai do t'ju lejojë të mëkatoni. Por Ai gjithashtu thotë se po vjen një ditë llogarie. Si të mbjellësh, ashtu do të korrësh!

Është interesante të theksohet se ka vetëm një ditë të javës që Ati i jep një emër, Sabati, dita e shtatë. Të gjitha ditët e tjera janë numra.

  • 1 Pjetrit 1:15 Por, ashtu si i Shenjti që ju thirri, jini edhe ju të shenjtë në çdo sjellje; sepse është shkruar: "JU DO TË JENI TË SHENJTË, sepse unë jam i shenjtë". ● Levitiku 20:26 'Kështu do të jeni të shenjtë për mua, sepse unë, Zoti, jam i shenjtë; dhe unë të kam veçuar nga popujt për të qenë të mitë. «Jehovai ju ka shpallur sot si popullin e tij, (ISRAEL) një pasuri të çmuar, siç ju premtoi, dhe se duhet të zbatoni të gjitha urdhërimet e tij; dhe se Ai do t'ju lartësojë mbi të gjitha kombet që ka krijuar, për lavdi, famë dhe nder; dhe që ju të jeni një popull i shenjtëruar për Zotin, Perëndinë tuaj, siç ka thënë ai."   • Acts 20:6-7 Por ne lundruam nga Filipi pas festës së të Ndormëve dhe pesë ditë më vonë u bashkuam me të tjerët në Troadë, ku qëndruam shtatë ditë. Ditën e parë të javës u mblodhëm për të thyer bukën. Pali foli me njerëzit dhe, duke qenë se donte të largohej të nesërmen, vazhdoi të fliste deri në mesnatë. Vargu 7 thotë, në anglisht, se apostujt u mblodhën në ditën e parë të javës, duke nënkuptuar kështu për shumë se Shabati është tani në ditën e parë të javës

 

Meqenëse ky varg përdoret për të mbrojtur të dielën si ditën e re të Shabatit, le të shohim vargun grek, ku vargu 7 thotë "dita e parë e javës". Greqishtja thotë, në fakt... mia ton sabaton Fjala greke mia do të thotë "një", jo "i pari" ... është fjala greke "protos" që do të thotë "i pari", e cila nuk është e pranishme në tekst.

Ne nuk mund ta bëjmë atë të thotë diçka që nuk thotë ... Në fakt përkthehet si "një nga të shtunat". Shumësi. Jo "dita e parë e javës". Njëjës.” Ky është një gabim i madh përkthimi që është pranuar hapur si e vërtetë ndër vite.

Kisha moderne e njeh ditën e ringjalljes së Yeshua si të dielën. Le të shohim vërtet se në cilën ditë Yeshua u ringjall.

 

  • Mateu 20:40 Sepse, ashtu si Jonai qëndroi tri ditë e tri net në barkun e peshkut të madh, kështu edhe Biri i njeriut do të jetë tri ditë e tri net në zemër të tokës.

  • Gjoni 11:9 Jezusi u përgjigj: "A nuk janë dymbëdhjetë orë ditë? Nëse dikush ecën ditën, nuk do të pengohet, sepse sheh nga drita e kësaj bote.10 Por nëse dikush ecën natën, do të pengohet, sepse nuk ka dritë". … Këtu ka diçka për të medituar. Si mund të kaloni 3 ditë dhe 3 netë ose 72 orë nga e Premtja e Madhe në një ringjallje të së dielës në mëngjes? Nëse e bëni llogaritjen, Ai do të ishte ringjallur të hënën. Logjika e kishës moderne për ndryshimin e së shtunës së të shtunës në të dielën nuk është e vërtetë pasi shërbimet e Ringjalljes duhet të mbahen të hënën pasdite.

 

Zoti dha vetëm ditën e shtatë

një emër, të gjitha ditët e mbetura ishin të numëruara. Po të shikosh me vëmendje do të shohësh se ata po flasin për të ngrënë dhe për të marrë një të dobët në besim, por jo për të diskutuar për gjëra të dyshimta. Ka të paktën 10 herë që përmend të hahet. Konteksti këtu është agjërimi, ajeti u thotë atyre se nuk ka rëndësi se cilën ditë keni zgjedhur për të agjëruar. Yeshua thotë kur ne agjërojmë, jo nëse ju agjëroni.

  • Romans 14:5 Një njeri e çmon një ditë mbi tjetrën; një tjetër e vlerëson çdo ditë njësoj. Secili le të jetë plotësisht i bindur në mendjen e tij.

  • Mateu 6:16-18 “Dhe kur të agjëroni, mos u bëni të zymtë si hipokritët, sepse ata shpërfytyrojnë fytyrat e tyre që të tjerët të shohin agjërimin e tyre. Në të vërtetë po ju them se ata e kanë marrë shpërblimin e tyre. Por kur të agjëroni, lyejeni kokën dhe lani fytyrën, që agjërimi juaj të mos shihet nga të tjerët, por nga Ati juaj që është në fshehtësi. Dhe Ati yt që sheh në fshehtësi do të të shpërblejë.”

  • Psalmi 35:13-14 “Kam veshur një thes; E mundova veten me agjërim; Unë u luta me kokën ulur në gjoks. Shkova si të pikëllohesha për shokun ose vëllanë tim; si ai që vajton nënën e tij, u përkula në zi”.
